What is in copper?

Ok I was reading on how to make a solar cell and it said that basically all you do is heat a half sheet of copper flashing, heat it, and set it in the sun and it produces energy. I think when you use a potato to power a light bulb you use copper also, so what is in copper that does this
oh yeah I think we learnined that in science class a few months ago ^_X
Too Short I live HERE in the U.S. I live in Philadelphia

You were misinformed. You can make a solar heater out of a copper mirror, and warm water, but not a solar voltaic cell to generate electricity, which requires a complicated manufacturing process.
