Lots of people are turning to solar energy to improve the look and value of their homes. Solar lighting improves the look of lawns, gardens, and pathways. It goes without saying that proper outdoor lighting is essential for safety. Solar lights increase the value of homes as well as add grace and beauty to it.

Traditionally, home owners used electric outdoor lights to light up their yards and homes. The main problem with using outdoor lights is the amount of electricity they use and how expensive they can be. Consider the fact that you are using these lights for at least 12 hours a night, which is a long time to leave lights on consistently. This is why people are using Solar Lighting as the alternative option. Lots of home owners and business are turning to solar lights particularly because they are easy on the electric bill.

How Does Solar Energy Facts Save Money?

Solar lights get their energy during the day by collecting rays from the sun which of course is free, which recharges the internal battery in them. When night hits, the battery will be used for solar lighting and your lawn, garden and patios will be lit up without the need to flick a switch.

Solar Energy Will Accent Your Home

There are many different reasons for using solar lights. People use solar lights to accent their landscaping. They light up their gardens, walkways and the perimeters of patios and porches with solar lighting. They light up ponds and waterfalls and in some cases even swimming pools.

Other than the fact that solar lights are known for saving a bundle on energy costs, solar lighting has various other benefits such as:

Solar Energy Facts – Six Quick Notes You Should Not Ignore

1. Solar energy lights are environmentally friendly. Solar lights are a free energy source that does not use carbon fuels or cause pollution.

2. No monthly bills with solar energy lights – Once solar lighting is purchased and set up, there are no monthly energy costs. This is one the main solar energy fact. They get their energy from the sun and eventually pay for themselves by saving you lots of money on your electric bill.

3. Chemical processes? None what-so-ever. Yes! Solar lights are a natural and renewable energy source because they get their power from the sun. There is no combustion or waste involved in solar lighting.

4. Solar lights are like plug and play products, very easy to install and maintain. There is no wiring involved with solar energy lighting. You simply place the unit in your desired location and let them get to shine around your home at night.

5. Solar energy lighting is safe. Solar lights are safe around children and pets. They do not produce heat.

6. Solar lights weigh little and are very portable. They are relocated easily because they are so light and can easily be made less conspicuous away in bushes and plants. But then, seeing them around the homes add more beauty and elegance to the home.

Are There Disadvantage to Point Out In Solar Energy Facts?

The disadvantages of using solar energy lighting are only two. Because solar lights tap their energy from the sun, they cannot provide adequate light during rainy seasons or more cloudy days. Also, the solar cells in solar lights are small which leads to a short span of moderate solar lighting. Please note that the technology is improving every day.

I hope that these solar energy facts will help you to consider adding outdoor lights to your home, perhaps for safety purposes, improving the value of your home and for the simple beauty of them. Solar energy lighting has never been easier or more energy conserving.

This post was made by Phineas Duru, an acclaimed author in the field of Solar Energy. His study has helped many consumers to make an informed choices.

4 CFL bulbs at 14 watts each is 56 watts.
My stand up fan only uses 70 watts on high.
My large 36 inch TV only uses 88 watts at max.

Total 162 watts

Lets run them all at the same time for say 6 hours a day. So we need 972 watts per day.

If you get 4 hours of peak sun you would need 243 watts in solar panels and to allow for loses you should get 300 watts.

Now you need batteries to last a day or two. A 100 AH deep cycle battery holds 1200 watts in power and to keep it above 50% discharge you would need two.

The inverter just has to be able to handle the total power usage of 162 watts so a 300 watt inverter would do.

300 watts divided by 12 volts is 25 amps so you need a charge controller that can handle 25 amps

3 each 100 watt solar modules. About anywhere on the net.
1 each 300 watt inverter Walmart or auto parts house.
1 each 30 amp charge controller Xantrex C-35.
2 each trojan t-105 6 volt deep cycle batteries 225 AH.
A couple of breakers from lowes or home depot and you are in business.

Here is a how too page to help you out.
