I made a solar panel out of copper flashing, i heated it on a stove and all this stuff, then when i conducted my experiment i measured the microamps, micro ammeter something similar to that word. However my science teacher and i think that it would bring me to more of an enviromental side (which is why i did the project) to see if we could find out if the power produced from this panel/cell would be enough to power a light bulb, (since we dont have enough time to find out) to do this i needed to transfer microamps, microammeters, or something like that into watts. so formally my question is, did i use microammeters or microamps? and how many microamps or microammeters are in a watt? thankyou so much for helping me w/ my insanity!!!<!--

ok, so is it possible for me to find out if my panels can light a lightbulb wit the data that i have?

Hi katherine. I just made a solar panel yesterday.. but i’m not sure if it works..
I dont actually have an answer to your question but I thought maybe we could exchange ideas on making this project work.
If you are interested – email me at Cmo1201499@aol.com I’d love to talk about different things to try and hopefully get a lightbulb to light up as well!!

Ok I was reading on how to make a solar cell and it said that basically all you do is heat a half sheet of copper flashing, heat it, and set it in the sun and it produces energy. I think when you use a potato to power a light bulb you use copper also, so what is in copper that does this
oh yeah I think we learnined that in science class a few months ago ^_X
Too Short I live HERE in the U.S. I live in Philadelphia

You were misinformed. You can make a solar heater out of a copper mirror, and warm water, but not a solar voltaic cell to generate electricity, which requires a complicated manufacturing process.

ok so ive got crickets in my backyard in 50l containers (for food for my reptiles) im currently breeding them. i need to give them heat at night . so if i got a solar pannel, copper wire and a light bulb and connected it somehow would it work at night? or could their be another thing i could use? if so plz tell me.

You would need a battery to store the energy gained by the solar panel during the day, and release it at night. You’d also need to make sure the bulb works properly with a DC current (incandescants do)

Another option, if it’s Sunny enough, is to make your own solar heater from black tubes filled with water with some mirrors set up around it (tin foil will do if you don’t want to spend much). Water has a high heat capacity and will maintain heat for a while.

During the night, move the foil closer around the water tubes/bottles. This will reduce heat escaping out from them, just like insulation.

If you live in a warm area with lots of direct sunlight, then this is worth trying out…

In all honesty, it’ll probably be much easier, cheaper & more effective to run a wire out to the back and use mains electricity.

Finally, insulation is important!
