Does anyone know the website for Noma or Nova? They make lights and solar lights any help would be appreciated.

I’m trying to find a part for one of my solar lights and I can’t find their website.

There’s a Wiki about Noma lights here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOMA_(company)
Hmmm. That won’t help because the original Noma company went bankrupt in 1967…

Two separate Noma companies in the UK are:
http://www.nomadirect.co.uk/nd/index.aspx

and
http://www.noma.co.uk/n/index.html

If you’re in Canada, Canadian Tire and possibly Home Hardware carries them.

We have some Noma Moonray lights here where I live and, quite frankly, these aren’t really designed to be repaired all that easily. Just replaced.
And I had a Noma extension cord that shorted out the first time I plugged a power tool in it. I was 40 miles away from a hardware store at the time, but managed to do a work-around and get the job done, but you can understand why I’m not likely to buy Noma products.

I’m having an outdoor party at night, and I want lighting?Solar lights?

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I live out in the country,so lighting is limited. I really don’t want my guests to be out in the dark (with just a motion light!) so I was wondering what I could do for lighting. I was wondering if solar lights could be the answer? Along with candles..but I’m not sure about those since there will be children there..and even if there weren’t with 50+ people things could get crazy. So what can I do?

There are sooo many different solar lights available. You can get strings of lanterns for interest and some that you can stake into the ground to delineate paths to/from the home for food/bathroom trips. I would also have something for mosquito control like citronella lanterns.

Have a GREAT party.

Is it possible to fix solar lights…..?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

my lights are string with usual stake solar part, which fell over during a windy spell. Not a light has shown since. We’ve opened it up, checked wires etc, and cant tell whats the prob. Is there any hope as i loved the effect of these beautiful little lights.
All answers greatly appreciated.
rope lighting, yes, on a fairy light scale.
i only put my the string out at the beginning of the summer. Used two weeks, cost 20 pounds sterling. Disappointed on my carelessness i guess.

Solar lights work on a re-chargeable battery. The energy from the sun is harnessed by the little panel on top of the post and fed into a rechargeable battery inside. Find the little battery compartment and check the battery hasn’t become dislodged.

As with all rechargeable items, eventually the battery needs to be replaced – just same as your mobile phone or cordless drill. The battery will likely be one of the standard AA or 9v rechargeable ones you can pick up at the supermarket by the check-out.

Edit – there is a tiny "off" switch on my lights, is it possible this has been knocked to the off position without realising it?

what would produce the best northern lights a strong solar flare or a strong coronal mass ejection?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

ive been wanting to see norhtern lights ever since i figured out what they were a while back and i know theyve came this far south before but never really payed that much attention but now i am and i want to know what will produce the best show of them and when it could happen since we are in a deep solar minimum

Most certainly a CME would produce the best aurora show, mainly because more matter is interacting with Earth’s magnetic field.
