Why Haven’t My Solar Powered Yard Lights Turned On?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

My mother got me solar powered yard lights as an anniversary present. We stuck them in the ground last week and none of them have turned on. Not one! I would think it be odd if perhaps one didn’t turn on but none of them have. My yard gets direct sunlight throughout the day.

I am wondering if the wrapping paper she used to send them to me is the culprit. She used a special aluminum foil-like wrapping paper to wrap them in. I haven’t heard of tin foil ruining solar powered lights before but that is the only thing I can think of. I see no switches or buttons to press on the lights. My husband and I are just dumbfounded since we assumed that they would just automatically turn on after soaking up the sunlight for a day or two.

Help us solve this riddle!

Hi!
I got my daughter a set for Xmas, and we had the same mystery:) Take the top part off of the light, and there is a little bitty off/on switch in there. That should do it, you just have to look closely for it. I assume they send them all in the "OFF" position to save battery power…and since NONE of them are working, I bet that’s the problem since you said you get a lot of sunshine. Take a good look, and you’ll have lights tonight~
Best Of Luck!!
