Solar lights are a great way to add light to dark parts of the yard, and solar shed lights are no different. Many homeowners rely on solar lighting because it saves a bundle on electricity. When looking for solar shed lights, or anything other solar lights, you will find that there are many to choose from. Once you've chosen the system you want to use, it's time to put it all together. It isn't hard to do; they can usually be installed using simple tools. Outdoor solar lights, specifically solar shed lights, have some basic components. You have your solar panel, wiring, and the lights themselves. Some systems also have a battery for storing surplus energy so you can even use the light at night, or at times when the sun isn't out during the winter. When installing the solar shed lights, the first decision you will have to make is where the lights themselves will be positioned. There are two main factors to consider. They should be placed where its easy to turn them on and off and they should be in a location where they illuminate the area you are targeting. They could be installed high on a wall or on the ceiling with the solar shed lights facing the right direction. The next step is to install the outdoor solar lights photovoltaic panel. It should be positioned on the south side of your shed on a slanted roof or a fully exposed wall. You want to position it where it will get direct sunlight for the majority of the day, and at an angle which will absorb the most sun for your solar shed lights. For this you should watch the outside of your shed, and see what area gets the most exposure throughout the day, before you mount the panel. The next step is the mounting itself. Before you just start mounting your outdoor solar lights, make sure have everything level first. Start with some small pinhole marks, then use a level to make sure they are straight. Position the actual solar shed lights overlapping the holes, then predrill the holes before screwing them in. You are also going to have to mount the battery somewhere close by, making sure not to damage it. The same procedure applies to installing the panel. Be sure you have it at the right angle, drill the pilot holes and re-check everything. Before you mount the panel drill a hole all through the shed, from the exterior to the interior. Next, measure the distance between this hole, the battery, and the solar shed lights. Add approximately four inches to this measurement. This will ensure you have enough wire to strip and connect everything together. Connect the wiring from the outdoor lights to the panel and feed the wire through the exterior hole and complete the mounting. One the inside of the shed, connect the wiring to the battery and then to the lights themselves. Test the lights to be sure they work how you want them to and reposition them if necessary. If needed, install a second set of solar shed lights. Because you ran the wiring through a hole to the exterior surface, the hole should be sealed with silicone to prevent any leakage. If you have everything you need assembled and ready to go, the entire process should take just a few hours to install.
